According to a recent news, the makers of Android smartphones are looking forward to keep up the competition with Apple’s iPhone X which has advanced itself on the basis of security measures. In 2018, many android smartphone makers will be launching products that has 3D sensors as its feature for Face ID.
Apple’s iPhone X has moved from fingerprint sensors to innovative 3D face identification sensors. Furthermore, Xiaomi, Oppo and Huawei are coming up with 3D sensing technologies of their own, that is, the new face scanning cameras which makes Face ID accurate and is also an advantage for snapchat lenses as they turn out to be more realistic.
Currently, the providers of the new technology are getting adequate orders for manufacturing which shows that in the following year, the possibility of forward-facing scanning on android smartphones or on Android flagship is very high. Many other suppliers or providers are expected to win 3D sensor orders and one amongst them is Largan Precision. Largan Precision is the most important provider of camera lens parts for digital cameras, tablet computers and smartphones amongst other devices.
Gears of the Sensor System and TrueDepth Camera
Since past few years, face unlocking and iris recognition is available on phone but the TrueDepth camera on Apple iPhone X serves as an advancement with regards to precision and accuracy. The TrueDepth camera has come to be one of the focal draws of the iPhone X due to its Face ID feature. This feature lets a person unlock their phone simply by looking at it. Also, in the messages app, the camera is also utilized for animojis.
TrueDepth begins with an old-style front-facing/selfie camera of 7MP. It includes an x-ray emitter that projects around 30,000 dots in an identified pattern against the face of the user. Those dots are later photographed by an x-ray camera for analysis. A proximity sensor exists that lets the system know as to when a user is close by to activate. The proximity sensor also has an ambient light sensor that aids the system in setting output light levels.
Android smartphones and Apple manufacturers are always in the race to advance features. Some Android phones have already initiated OLED screens like the ones on iPhone X.
Apart from the above news, Samsung is also planning to initiate 3D sensors on the front camera of Galaxy S9 which will be launched the following year. Also, Qualcomm is working on advanced sensors of their own. 2018 is possibly going to be a new flagship smartphone buying year which provides advanced technology for unlocking the phone, e.g. face unlock technology.
